The Cabin In The Woods - 2D Or 3D?!

The Cabin in the Woods got some play at Comic Con over the weekend. And not for a reason that co-writer Will Whedon is excited about.

It seems that the studio is pushing hard to have the movie converted and released in 3D because they feel every horror movie these days is using the format.

Whedon doesn't seem to care. In fact, it seems like that's the main reason that he wants to keep it in standard 2D format. Here's the quote: "What we're hoping to do is to be the only horror movie coming out that is not in 3D".

Decisions will have to be made quickly so that either way they go things can be finished up for the new release date of January 14, 2011.

My suggestion is not to go 3D with that release date because right away they are up against The Green Hornet.

Stay tuned for more information, photos and trailers as we get closer to the new year.

Cheers!

The Cabin In The Woods - Whedon Styles!

I love Joss Whedon (Buffy, Angel), so knowing that he has co-written and will produce The Cabin in the Woods is awesome.

The movie will be released in 3D and the release date was delayed a year so that the 3D could be added and edited.

Without being able to find much on the plot, we do know that this is another take on the young people in a scary scenario movie.

The encouraging thing to me is that the people behind The Cabin in the Woods are capable of taking that old formula and making a quality flick out of it.

Staring young actors, Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy) and Anna Hutchison (Power Rangers Jungle Fury), the flick looks to be sexy as well as scary.

Add in acting vets Richard Jenkins (Burn After Reading, The Kingdom) and Bradley Whitford (The Good Guys, The West Wing) and Whedon and co-writer/ director Drew Goddard have a heck of a cast to put on the screen for us.

The Cabin in the Woods comes to theatres January 14, 2011 in 3D.
